Narrative Dynamic System

How do we tell stories within media that are nonlinear: like games, virtual reality, and immersive theater? How can we craft narratives that emerge from the dynamics of interaction, narratives experienced through exploration and choice? What design strategies exist regarding an understanding of character, plot, drama, time, space, and event within interactive fictions?

highlight: making 3 stories in 3 sentence

1. The setting of the story is in 2109, it is a future anthology museum, the collection is the people species born in 1990s-2000s. At that time, people speak one united world language, and there is no one who understand the multiple different ancient languages 100 years ago except the “collection“ in the anthology museum. The “human specimen“ want to escape the museum, and planned the “prison” break.

2. Fast forward, the Guy lost a lot of weight and finally decided to ask the Girl to webcam chat. He never wanted to do it because he was obese. However, the girl said she still wanted to keep it online for now and she is not ready. He keeps bettering himself, and he delivers a lot of special gifts to the girl’s encrypted address. One day he is lacking inspiration for dinner again. He looks out of the window and browsing on a window where he sees very familiar gifts Confirm the girl is actually an obese girl.

3. The concept is an interactive ‘murder scene detective’ theater experience. There are alot of interactive theater, I want to explore the balance of narrative fluency and audience participation. I found an interesting reference is the English TV series ‘Sherlock Holmes‘, the character John Watson has a blog which documented the adventure of Sherlock and he. Surprisingly, there do exist a blog of John Watson, http://www.johnwatsonblog.co.uk/ .That is so cool.

CHAT BOX

Best Chat Box Storytelling Case:

Love and Producer http://evol.papegames.cn/

Love and Producer is a Chinese phone game targeted mainly at women in which they "date" four ideal virtual men. As of December 2018, the game had 4 million daily users, 90% of whom were women. The success of the game has caused comment in Chinese and international media.

I found a good report on that chat box game. http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1085290.shtml As the plot unveils, the player will encounter four male characters in the show, each who is an ideal and perfect model cast from a Mary Sue plot: the 22-year-old humorous and cheerful superstar Zhou Qiluo, the 24-year-old considerate and responsible SWAT team officer Bai Qi, the 26-year-old gentle, thoughtful genius scientist Xu Mo and the 28-year-old successful CEO of a financial company Li Zeyan, who also happens to be a good cook. These perfect men - with attractive appearances, nice personalities and lots of money - can call you, text you, send "likes" to your virtual WeChat account and also ask you out for dinner or speak love's prattle to you on the phone (voiced by prestigious voice actors).
It shows some critical and interesting facades.

  • what do girls want ? "I want to know what it is like to be in love, because I have never had a serious romantic experience before," Shen told the Global Times. "I think I was first struck by love while interacting with my favorite character, Bai Qi. My heart beats faster and my face burns as he suddenly pulls me to his chest," Shen said.

  • Role models for real men Many see the game as an outlet for their own romantic fantasies, which are getting harder to fulfill in today's world. This is especially true among single Chinese women in their late 20s, whose daily lives are filled with career advancement pressure, boring men met during blind dates arranged by their parents or the fear of becoming "left behind" and growing old without experiencing any romantic adventures.

Prototype

highlight: half state

The main point of the narrative story I set is to let people who are familiar and unclear chat together. Matching people through a cue, and restricting the content of people's chat conversations through some guide frameworks. It is familiar and not familiar enough, free has some restrictions on the settings.

The point of my clue that allows semi-familiar people to chat anonymously is:

1.I chose the chat content reference: if you talk with someone on these 30 topics honestly you will fall in love. This framework is very interesting. I want to see how you can answer these sincere questions in the case of anonymity.

2. The tester is in a classroom. People usually go to class together, facetoface, but they can't confirm who they are talking to. What kind of chemical reaction will this subtle hungry familiarity and strangeness produce?
